Introducing PRISM: A New Approach

So, what’s the solution to this dilemma? Enter PRISM—short for Persona Routing via Intent-based Self-Modeling. This innovative framework allows AI to determine whether to utilize a persona based on the context of the query, rather than adhering strictly to one approach.

When a question is posed, PRISM generates two responses: one from its default mode and another from its designated persona. It then evaluates both answers and presents the one that demonstrates superior performance for that specific inquiry.

While the default answer may be preferred, the expert response isn’t simply discarded. Instead, it’s stored in a lightweight component known as a LoRA adapter, which the AI can reference when needed in future interactions. This combination of simplicity and effectiveness marks a promising step forward in AI development.

Evaluating PRISM’s Performance

The introduction of PRISM yielded noteworthy improvements in AI responsiveness, with overall scores on the MT-Bench test increasing by one to two points. When it came to tasks involving writing or safety information, utilizing personas proved beneficial. Conversely, for questions demanding raw knowledge, sidestepping the persona was the most effective strategy.
