According to Tibor Blaho, an engineer and code expert at AIRPM, these dynamic skills are on track to be featured in ChatGPT soon. What’s more, OpenAI might even provide the option to convert a custom GPT into a skill. This advancement could revolutionize how we interact with AI.
Skills themselves are not entirely new. For instance, custom GPTs in ChatGPT and Gems in Gemini share a similar purpose. AI tools like Dia browser allow for the creation of Skills, while Perplexity’s Comet browser brings forth ideas akin to shortcuts, enhancing user experience.
But Why Skills?
Creating Skills doesn’t necessitate any technical expertise—anyone can do it with natural language. Simply name the skill, and you’re good to go! I’ve created one myself called “research.” The instruction I used was straightforward:
“When provided with a phrase or term, search in peer-reviewed journals and scientific publications, identify the most cited papers, and summarize the core findings as bullet points.”
Now, when I wish to dive into a topic, I can effortlessly summon my skill. Instead of crafting an elaborate prompt every time, I can use a straightforward command like “/research Manhattan Project,” and receive my answer tailored to my needs within moments.
